1st Day of Christmas: Home is Where Christmas Is

Undoubtedly, the Christmas season is the most expected and exciting holiday in the Philippines and even in Pampanga in particular. Christmas celebrations in the Philippines is far different from the celebrations in the other parts of the world.

So for our number 1 spot on the 12 days of Christmas count down, of course, there is no place like home when it comes to Christmas celebration in Pampanga, or in Philippines in general. What makes Christmas in the Philippines special is the warm energy and heartwarming atmosphere among the families. The season is also connected to the homecoming of migrants and so many families are celebrating their family reunions during the season.

To many of us Filipinos, Christmas starts as early as September. The start of the “Ber” months is the start of the Christmas season in the Philippines. Filipinos start playing Christmas songs and decorating their homes with Christmas decors starting this month. The yearly Giant Lantern Festival is one of the most anticipated festivals in Pampanga where different Barangays showcase their hand made lanterns. Though December may also be the time of typhoons, no amount of calamity could ever stop Kapampangans from celebrating Christmas.
